Domino is a set of dominoes (also known as domino tiles or blocks) with matching black and white pips that are used to score points in games. Dominos are traditionally made from bone, silver lip ocean pearl oyster shell (mother of pearl), ivory or a dark hardwood such as ebony. The pips can also be inlaid or painted. Some European-style sets combine MOP, ivory and ebony; others use only one material.
Dominos are typically of the same size, and they are arranged so that one domino knocks over another domino and the chain reaction continues until all of the dominoes have fallen over. While this is a simple concept, it is very exciting to watch – and even more fun to play! The same principle is also used in a number of strategic games, including the wildly popular game of poker. Dominoes can also be used in puzzles and a number of other creative endeavors.
When writing a novel, it can be helpful to think of each scene as a domino. This is especially true for scenes that advance the plot or make a point in the story. For example, the scene where Domino and a mercenary rescue a group of mutants from the clutches of Malcolm Colcord’s clandestine Weapon X program can be seen as a “domino” that leads into the next part of the story.
Like dominoes, good “domino” tasks are challenging and require a chunk of time and focus to complete. These tasks also have a positive ripple effect in the long term. For example, if a business owner decides to create a financial plan and then execute it, each step of this process can be seen as its own domino. By picking the right “domino” to tackle each day and focusing on it until completion, the business owner can achieve success in the long run.
While Domino is best known for her work with X-Force, she was once a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, working under the code name Bridge to depose Weapon X’s depraved director, Malcolm Colcord. She later joined a future version of herself and the Six Pack as they investigated Cable after he began affecting change on a global scale. She later assisted the Six Pack in opposing and defeating the ancient mutant-devouring Skornn entity, revealing her psionic link with Cable.
When paired with a future version of herself, Domino was implanted with a neural inhibitor that impacted her agility and reaction times. This was removed by Jesse Aaronson in exchange for helping him find the mutant known as Gryaznova. After the reality-altering event of Realm-295, Domino rejoined X-Force and helped them restructure before a volatile encounter with Cable at his new safehouse in Hell’s Kitchen. The team was then attacked by a feral Grizzly and a future Stryfe. She then teamed up with the former Six Pack member Garrison Kane to investigate a top-secret facility. This led them to discover that the facility was being used to recreate an alien planet-moving engine.
