Dominoes are a type of polyhedra or flat polygonal game pieces that have two square ends (also called faces) and are typically twice as long as they are wide. The number of dots on each face, known as pips, defines the rank or value of the piece. Each domino features a line in the center to distinguish it from the adjacent dominoes, and some sets feature a different color on each face for ease of identification. A domino may also have a picture or design inlaid on it.
While most people think of dominos as simple, a set can be much more complex, and the ability to create intricate designs with these little squares is one of the reasons that this hobby has grown so popular. Some players use the pieces to build structures such as walls, towers and pyramids. Others create domino art — a series of straight or curved lines, grids that form pictures, or even 3D structures like pillars and aqueducts. Many Domino fans are also interested in demonstrating the “Domino effect” — the remarkable chain reaction that occurs when one domino knocks over another, creating a larger structure.
In the business world, Domino’s is a company that takes its customer service seriously. The company was once plagued with low employee morale and high turnover rates, but former CEO David Brandon put into place new values for the company. These new values included listening to employees. He started a new leadership training program and spoke directly to workers, letting them know that their concerns were heard. This change in culture was a major success, and it helped the company to turn around its fortunes.
When Domino first appeared in the Marvel Universe, she was a career mercenary. She worked for a time with the mutant genius Milo Thurman, and they fell in love. She later joined the Six Pack, and later teamed up with Cable. She also became a member of Storm’s security task force on Utopia, and she has been a long-time ally of the time-traveling hero Colossus. Domino’s mutant power allows her to manipulate probability — making it easy for her to get good luck, but she also has used it to bring bad luck to her enemies.
Domino is also a skilled martial artist, and she has proven this in several storied battles. When she was targeted for assassination by Marcus Tsung, a mutant who has the ability to kill, Domino enlisted the help of her friend Pete Wisdom and his sister Romany. The team was able to hold off Tsung, but they were forced to feign their own deaths after the alien symbiote that controlled him attached itself to Domino.
