If you’ve ever seen a domino show, you might have marveled at the hundreds or thousands of pieces lined up in careful sequence, each one toppling with just the slightest nudge. That’s the same principle at work in narrative: a story needs scenes which, like dominoes, either advance the plot or pull it back from an unexpected angle. Each scene should be in a good position to influence the next, but it’s easy to make that too complicated, or to have the dominoes line up at the wrong angles and miss each other.
Domino, the hero of this article, is an expert at this art. Her mutant ability allows her to manipulate probability, giving her “good luck” and making it bad for those around her. This power is used on a regular basis in her mercenary work. She’s even used it to defeat the ancient, mutant-devouring Skornn entity.
She’s also a ruthless, dangerous mercenary with an ability to cause chaos on a massive scale. Domino helped form the Six Pack, a mercenary team which included G. W. Bridge, Hammer, Anaconda, and Solo. She joined them to oppose the depraved Weapon X program and its director, Malcolm Colcord. Later, she worked with them to investigate the clandestine ULTIMATUM organization in Rumekistan. When Cable lobotomized himself to gain control over his powerful powers, Domino helped him oppose and eventually defeat the entity.
Domino’s psionic aura also causes improbable events to occur around her, making it hard for people to harm her. It can be as simple as making an enemy’s equipment malfunction or as complex as hitting just the right button to shut down a powerful machine.
In the Marvel Universe, Domino is a dangerous and resourceful mutant mercenary who is skilled in the martial arts and possesses a variety of lethal weapons. She has also demonstrated the ability to teleport, and can even use it to transport entire buildings or cities.
Domino has a deep appreciation for food and is a master cook. She is also well-versed in interior design, and she hosts a popular podcast about home improvement.
In the past, Domino has partnered with brands to offer special editions of her magazine and has produced several books on the subject of home renovation. In addition, she has starred in a number of television shows and commercials. She has an impressive social media following, with more than 10 million followers on Instagram alone. She was named to the inaugural Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2016. She currently serves as the chief executive officer of a home design and lifestyle brand called Domino. The company has expanded to include furniture, travel, and wellness verticals, as well as a podcast, Design Time. The brand has an estimated value of $500 million. It is based in New York City and is part of the Multiply Media portfolio of companies. In 2021, Domino was acquired by Recurrent Ventures. It is available on digital platforms and through subscription services.
