International Hurricanes: The Impact of Climate Change on Storm Intensity

International Cyclones have become a major concern in many parts of the world. With climate behavior continuing to change, the impact of climate change on storm intensity is becoming increasingly apparent and has the potential to change weather patterns globally. Climate change triggered by global warming, especially due to greenhouse gas emissions, contributes significantly to increasing ocean temperatures. Warmer oceans provide more energy for hurricanes, which opens up the possibility for higher intensity storms. Data shows that larger storms tend to produce more rainfall which can cause flooding in coastal areas. Additionally, changes in wind patterns also play a role in strengthening storms. Phenomena such as El Niño and La Niña function as climate regulators that can influence the path and strength of hurricanes. When wind patterns change, typhoons can move more slowly or change direction, magnifying their impact on unprepared areas. Scientific studies show that the frequency of category 4 and 5 hurricanes has increased in recent decades. According to a report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), there has been a significant increase in the number of hurricanes that trigger massive damage including property, infrastructure and loss of life. Tropical regions, including the Caribbean and South Pacific, become more vulnerable to strong hurricane floors. Climate variability can also change storm surge patterns. Stronger storms not only impact the areas they pass through, but can also trigger dangerous tsunamis. Understanding and predicting these patterns is crucial for mitigating risks in vulnerable areas. Adaptation measures such as strengthening infrastructure and better urban planning along coastal areas are important; this includes the construction of embankments and early warning systems. The research results show that communities that are proactive in preparedness will experience less severe impacts during storms. The social aspect is also no less important. Underprivileged communities are often more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and hurricanes, given limited resources and access to information. Education about typhoon risks needs to be improved, especially in areas frequently hit by disasters. With hurricane intensity increasing as a result of climate change, it is important to encourage international collaboration in research and mitigation. With a data-based approach and global cooperation, it is hoped that more effective solutions can be found to deal with future threats from tropical storms.
