Domino is a black and white rectangle that is part of a set of 28 dominoes (also known as bones, cards, men, pieces or tiles). It features a line in the middle to divide it visually into two squares, called ends. Each end has a number, called spots or pips, which determines its value. The higher the number, the more valuable the tile.
A single domino is usually twice as long as it is wide. This makes it easy to re-stack them after use. There are many different games that can be played with a domino set, including blocking and scoring games, as well as trick and trump games that draw inspiration from card games.
In a domino game, players take turns adding dominoes to a layout or tableau in the middle of the table. Each domino has one or more open ends that must match the value of a tile already on the layout. The first player to lay a tile begins play, and the other players must then add matching dominoes to the layout in turn. Each time a tile is laid, the player scores points based on the value of the corresponding open end of the new domino.
The game was created in the 18th century by a French publisher, François-Auguste Baron de Saint-Étienne. It is also known as “Dominique” or “French Dominoes”. The first person to reach 100 points wins the game. Domino has become a popular family activity and is often taught in schools. There are a number of variations of the game, but the basic rules remain the same.
Domino is a highly skilled combatant and covert operator, adept in various armed and unarmed combat techniques. She is a superb martial artist, athlete and swimmer and fluent in several languages. She wears body armor and contacts that magnify her vision and shoot lasers, but can also wield conventional firearms and weapons. Domino has an innate talent for calculating odds and is able to anticipate the outcomes of nearly any action, enhancing her natural reflexes to near-superhuman levels.
She was recruited by X-Corporation as part of the Hong Kong branch’s mercenary team, Six Pack, and hindered John Sublime’s Third Species mutant organ harvesting movement. Domino was later possessed by the Undying alien Aentaeros, who used her to destroy her rival Semijan. After regaining control of her mind, she rejoined X-Force and helped Cable restructure the team before investigating a series of murders committed by a feral Grizzly.
On a mission in El Salvador, Domino disabled the prototype combat droid codename Jericho by delivering an electromagnetic pulse to its neurological controls. However, the droid was actually being neurologically controlled by rogue CIA agent Ekatarina Gryaznova. The feedback from the device induced a synaptic static that slowed down Domino’s reaction times and agility. She left X-Force and returned to her freelance mercenary work.
